Momma I Wanna Dance/D.R.E.A.M Dance Studio began as a project by Kansas native, Tonya Drayton. Tonya move her family to the Atlanta Metro-area in 1998. Having a daughter in the Entertainment Industry she found she did not know anything about the Business side of the Dance Industry. In-front of the camera came easy. However, no one wanted to help with the Business (behind the scene) part of the industry. She noticed that there was a thriving entertainment community-at-large, including budding performers, children, and parents who were not aware of what to do and who to talk to. Tonya believes that an organization such as MIWD/D.R.E.A.M would improve the quality of life and also "EDUCATE" aspiring DANCERS for "SUCCESS."
Tonya has started by creating Dance Industry Business workshops. These workshops inform on IMPERATIVE need to know information about the Behind-the-Scenes of the Dance Industry. These workshops are to lay the foundation for our first Dance Studio location. Fundraising and generous contributions from citizens, businesses, and city grants, are instrumental in creating MIWD's first artistic center. The Momma I Wanna Dance/D.R.E.A.M community was not established to replace local galleries and arts groups. MIWD/DDS wants to provide a better understanding of the Entertainment Dance Business to aspiring performers.
Aside, from EDUCATING for success. MIWD wants to give back to the community. We have partnered with Emerald City Entertainment and Purpose & Destiny Productions to sponsor a yearly Charity called the Diamond Ball. Every year the Diamond Ball Community chooses a Charity/Foundation to honor, with 20% of the proceeds going to the charity/foundation.
The Momma I Wanna Dance community is always looking for new volunteers. Contact us if you are interested in volunteering, or call 678 632 6386.
